It's not opaque as I wanted it to be so the black is more like gray. More on the liquidity side so for someone who blinks a lot, I always mess up so I have to set it immediately with eyeshadow.

TonyMoly Gel Liner was an impulse buy probably beacause of the cool packaging but I like how black this is. It's bit weird now because of social distancing and it's never been the same especially in a Filipino setting because we share food.

Anyway, here's me finally looking into this old blog and saw some photos that are unpublished.

UCC i thought was just for coffee, but hey they have Japanese food and overall they are yum.

Just sharing the photos as remembrance. Reminiscing and trying to remember what I think of these food, I think I like the dish in the first photo very much...it has the right amount of saltiness and sweetness and the meat is tender.

BB Cushion is a big boom in asia and is now gaining popularity in the international market with Lancome releasing their very own range of cushion. Right now, there are many different types of it to suite the demands of makeup enthusiasts. For fun, I got a refill of the IOPE Air Cushion XP which is one of the first and popular BB cushion that came out.

Since this is an old post I'll just hive a summary.
This Iope cushion just have this glowy finish but not doesn't have the sticky feel. It's not patchy even though I have dry skin and just blends well with my skin even if I don't retouch for the whole day...feeling natural na ganda lang - ganun.

I feel a bit weird with the cushionscushion at first but patting definitely they key and I like that it picks just the right amount of bb cream/foundation.

Caolion was mentioned by Michelle Phan before in her youtube channel (long time ago it seems) ang got curious. I got these 3 for a good deal.

The O2 Bubble Pore Pack is really bubbly, the bubbliest that I tried from bubbles pore packs. It creates really dense bubbles and really helps lift whatever gunk in my pores.

The Blackhead Steam Pore Pack is ohhhh so hot. Definitely no steaming needed when I use this. It's a bit scary at first but it will slowly cool down which is like a timer for me to take it off and move on to the next mask.

Pore Original Pack is the cool one. After the steamy session with the Steam Pore Pack, this is likealike nice breeze to the face. It cools and "closed" the pores that completes the whole cleaning of pores experience.

These three Caolion products works well together for a heallthy, small looking pores.

Sheet Masks of course are the basics although I'm trying my best to limit using them (there's already al of garbage in this world.

My go to brands are Innisfree and My Scheming. I usually get them on buy 1 get 1 deals so it's light on the pocket.

Innisfree is overall moisturizing and non irritating and since I have dry ski, I can get away with not washing the excess essence.

My Scheming, does the same thing but a little better in the sense that the material used in the mask itself is thinner (but still sturdy) which just sticks to my skin even if I move around. It's essence is also non sticky, my skin just loves to absorb it.

Honorable mention is The Face Shop's Real Nature Sheet mask.

I also got some great deal with the Laneige Regenerating Mask and Mediheal Mask.

The Mediheal one is an upgrade from the roadshop brands - better mask quality and less stickier essence.

Laneige Regenerating Mask is LUXE! The mask itself is made of this jelly or young coconut like flesh, it's just nice and smooth to the skin when applied. It's essence is also a major upgrade at hindi tinipid - I just feel so young and refreshed and my face looking brighter and less tired (medyo parang nagpafacial ako pag eto ginamit ko).

Arya De Guzmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05654695815114527927noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4763521087920499402.post-79440517427606972652018-08-23T23:22:00.000+08:002018-08-23T23:22:50.925+08:00Follow me on Instagram @arte.reviewHi!!!!

Black is a souvenir that I got from Taiwan. It's a multi purpose massaging tool for different parts of the body (as demonstrated by the nice grandma who did his very best to communicate with me through body language) but I mainly use it for the face. The curve is surprisingly perfect for my jaw lines and I used the top (or bottom) side part to the rest of my face. It's thin so I have to be light to avoid hitting my bones (it hurts when it happens and definitely need some cream or oil for it to glide smoothly).

Silver is an impulse buy because it looks magical but I don't like this at all since "clips" my skin in between the rollers (me being chubby adds to the problem I guess) so it's painful to use. I think this is best for the body rather than the face and since I'm lazy to massage myself, I'm gonna pass on this.

White is from Miniso. I wanted the flower looking massage with pressure points but it was out of stock the time that I got this. This is effective with regular use (everyday). After around two weeks of use, a lot noticed that my face is slimmer. The only downside is the middle part that is holding the rollers is sticking out and pokes my skin which hurts when I'm not careful/hastily using it.

Let the skin breathe from all the makeup and pollution - your skin will definitely thank you.

Tosowoong Enzyme Powder Wash
I got this thinking that it's a dupe for the Tatcha Rice Cleanser thing (I don't know the exact name but many beauty gurus/youtubers swear by it because it helps in making the skin glow but holy it's so pricey). So as the name suggest, this cleanser is in powder from like granules of sugar that is easily dissolve with water. I like that with just a small amount (this cleanser lasted for more than 5 months) I can create a great amount of foam that cleanse and keeps the skin soft.

Pond's Washable Cold Cream
A makeup remover favorite as it is affordable and readily available (I got mine on a 2 for 1 sale). I like that it keeps the skin moisturized and soft while removing light makeup. I wouldn't rely on it if I'm wearing heavier and waterproof makeup.

Biore Cleansing Oil
From the packaging: "This oil-based makeup remover from Japan has excellent cleansing ability that makes makeup removal so quick and easy! Suitable for medium to heavy makeup users, it effectively dissolves and removes stubborn makeup, even waterproof mascara, while lifting away dirt and impurities. Unlike typical oil makeup removers, it does not emulsify upon contact with water, thus maintaining its optimal cleansing performance at all time".

Except for the last sentence, I agree completely. I apply this oil on a dry skin, massage it until I think the makeup is dissolved and then put a little amount of water to my palms and massage my face again to lift the oil and there's a bit of emulsification in this stage and I don't mind it - I actually like it cause it's as if I'm removing the oil together with the makeup and then I follow-up with a cleanser.

Skinfood Black Sugar Perfect Cleansing Balm
If this is readily available in my area then this will be my go to makeup remover and cleanser (sadly it is not readily available for me and online shops prices are crazy, got mine on sale in Korea - ON SALE people).

First of all, the smell is divine - it's citrusy with a bit of caramel smell to it, it's just refreshing to sniff it. Second, it's a balm so it's not messy to work with it (it also has a lid inside with a small spatula so no need to dip the fingers to contaminate the balm). Third, it does remove makeup (like the Biore one) and cleanse the face in one go that most of the time I don't double cleanse anymore. I get the squeeky clean feeling without the dryness with this, amazing!

Innisfree Wine Peeling Jelly Softener
I think this is an underrated product. It's a gentle chemical exfoliant that I use 2 to 3 times a week and it really helps in removing blackheads and whiteheads, without stripping the moisture off the skin. And comparing to other chemical exfoliator, this is more on the affordable side - I got it on Althea PH for more of less P500 ($10).
TMI: I got a bad reaction to certain deodorant that made my pits scaly and dark and this one helped a lot in the recovery.

Skinfood Rice Mask Wash Off
I just started using this and as a wash off mask, Im satisfied as it makes my skin soft and looking refreshed after every use. As a scrub though (it has small white almost transparent beads/grains), it won't help in removing the blackheads (I still rely with the Innisfree Jelly Softener) - though I don't follow the instructions because I can't keep on massaging my dry face for 10 to 15 minutes, that is just tedious.

Here are three simple items that makes my hair looking shiny and healthy.

Kindly read Oh Looky before proceeding to read, thanks.

Avalon Organics Conditioner
I first tried the lemon variant and fell in love with it (and if ever that I wanted to go on the more natural products again, I'll hunt that variant - seems to be always out of stock) cause it just makes my hair moisturize (no split ends when I still have short hair) and less frizzy some people thought I had a salon treatment. My hair just soaks this conditioner that there's not much residue when I rinse it. The difference between the lemon and the peppermint variant aside from the fragrance is the consistency: the lemon is thicker. The only downside I guess is that my hair is not as shiny compared to when I'm using the usual chemical based conditioners.

Castor Oil
I got this for my brows but my hair seems to like it too. Every other day, 30 minutes prior to washing my hair I massage a good amount of this to my scalp and hair as a treatment and once a week, I mix around 5 drops of Castor Oil to a dollop of the Avalon Organics Conditioner as a hair mask and it makes my hair looking more voluminous (and I like it) and healthy. I also think that it is helping in the hair growth department(I see a lot of baby hair).

Shiseido Tsubaki Extra Moist Conditioner
Now I still want the shine to my hair and more moisture that's why I got this. It seems pricey at first as a conditioner but I've been using this for 5 months now and I still have some left. This conditioner just makes my hair looking like I visit the salon on a daily basis that my friends couldn't believe that it just this conditioner that is doing the trick.

Tsubaki is camellia flower and the oil derived from it is advertised as moisturizing and I believe it since it does really moisturizing my hair. Aside from the moisture and the shine, Shiseido Tsubaki Extra Moist Conditioner keeps my hair straight but with a body - with a little bounce to it so it's not looking dull (some of my friends said that it looks like I had a brazilian blow dry). The only downside is that my skin got irritated to it for the first few weeks of usage (I had a lot of back acne and bumps).Arya De Guzmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05654695815114527927noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4763521087920499402.post-57813943898182817182018-04-21T22:24:00.001+08:002018-04-21T22:24:21.899+08:00Oh Looky: Cosrx

A sudden popular brand recommended by many beauty enthusiasts spark the curiosity in me to get and try Cosrx. After finishing them all I can ask is, WHY?

Kindly read Oh Looky before proceeding to read, thanks.

Cosrx AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner
After reading some articles, all I know is that AHA and BHA are acids that can be use as chemical exfoliants to remove dead skin cells, blackheads and whiteheads. blah blah blah it sounds good, reviews are all positive (not sure now) let's give this brand a try.

I have a rocky experience with this toner. For the two weeks of usage I have small bumps all over my face (purging stage, I guess). It subsided on the third but came back on the fourth week and the cycle just repeats. Even if I rested from using this for a whole month and introduced it again to my face, the same thing happens.

It's possible that it is reacting to other products that I use but rather than changing the rest of my skincare for this to work, I rather sacrifice my $20 (almost) and ditch this toner. Also, it didn't help in reducing my blackheads and whiteheads.

Cosrx Galactomyces 95 Whitening Power Essence
I also experienced a week of purging with this essence. But after that everything seems good...JUST GOOD. It says in the packaging that it is an essence enriched with more than 95 percent Galactomyces (me thinking it can be a dupe for SKII). It moisturizes the skin and supports skin renewal. It is moisturizing and if I double layer it, the next morning my skin looks a bit dewy which is a good sign.

But the main reason why I got this essence is because of the skin renewal and whitening (brightening) aspect of it but sadly it did not deliver. My expectation is high because there's just a little price difference with the Laneige White Dew Original Ampoule Essence (my favorite Essence so far, it does lighten my freckles/sun spots).

Overall, I'm not impressed with Cosrx (the packing is aesthetically great though). I heard the patch is really effective though.Arya De Guzmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05654695815114527927noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4763521087920499402.post-48662270773147843932018-04-21T16:33:00.002+08:002018-04-21T16:33:45.171+08:00Oh LookyHello, I'll be posting several blog post with "Oh Looky" in the name. I haven't been active with this blog for the two main reasons: I have a sucky internet and good natural lighting is almost inexistent where I live right now so all my photos are crappy. I'll also be honest, I think I already exhaust all the girly stuff in me (when I started this blog, I really pulled the girly/drag queen in me).

In reality, I'm not really girly and I'm mostly using skincare products just to delay the signs of aging and for my skin not to crack because of dryness. As for makeup, well it's mostly because of curiosity and the pressure from this world for me to be someone defined by the society. I mostly wear base makeup now for the SPF purpose and a little bit of lipstick for color.

I still wanted to share all the skincare and makeup that I use but unlike before, my posts will be very short and without swatches and detailed photos.

Oh Hey! It's been a while...let's just start immediately with my thoughts with some Too Faced products...Game Changer if you ask me for a summary.

Too Faced primed Poreless Skin Smoothening Pressed Powder
I don't like wearing foundation because as soon as I set my foot outside, hulas agad - foundation starts to melt and this one solved that problem. This finely milled pressed powder can be use as a primer or as a setting powder or both. It's makes the skin soft, smooth and slightly matte. It also makes me less sweaty - now I'm on drier side of the skin spectrum so I don't know how will this fair with oil control.

Girlies out their will like the princessy packaging and the size is perfect to carry around (it's slim) and it has a decent mirror too. I just don't like the sponge that came with it but I like that there's a compartment for it to hide extra money. Char! Hindi favorite sponge or small brush.

Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Matte Long Wear Lipstick
This is my very first liquid matte lipstick and I got a little nervous to get and try it because I am not a super fan of matte lips, my logic is: matte = dry lips. I also have clumsy hands which makes me think that applying is a challenge.

I got the shade Sell Out and man I love the color very much it's really like my lips but better. Surprisingly this liquid lipstick is easy to apply as it just glides naturally although I have to be a bit fast because it quickly sets and turn matte. It minimally transfers to stuff but it's long lasting that it can survive lunch, snacks, an eat all you can korean bbq dinner, four glasses of liquid with every now and then sipping and a thirty minute jog without being patchy but of course as the activities go by, the color diminishes but is still there that there is no need to touch up. It's also comfortable to wear it, it's not too heavy and drying but...

after eating korean bbq buffet, yup it still look pigmented

The downside is after three days of using it I feel like like my lips are drying so moisturization is a must to avoid the cakey lipstick look that I hate. By the way, since I like my lipstick to look a bit natural looking what I usually do is only apply dots on my lips and then swipe it with my finger and top it with a little bit of lip balm (just a little so it would still have the matte effect). Then I just use whatever amount that is in my finger as a blush.

Too Faced Sweet Peach Glow Highlighting Powder

The trio really smells like peaches! Although I'm shy when it comes to wearing highlighters, I appreciate these three colors because with the right amount, it makes my face looking less dull. I usually layer them starting with the middle color almost all over my cheeks, and then the lighter one on the upper part and then with the bronzy color I just tap a little tap of my cheeks to have a slightly sun kissed look. If I'm going for the drunken style of blushing, I just used sweep the brush that I used on my nose bridge.

My heart fluttered when I heard (read) the buzz that a Sephora store will finally open in Manila (if my memory serves me right, Megamall). I could finally get my hands on brands raved by many youtubers and beauty gurus but at the same time, I'm fearing that my wallet will always be slim and gasping for money (yikes!).

But the buzz is just a buzz and never became an official news. Imagine the hearts of many Filipino beauty enthusiasts slowly being crushed while waiting for a physical store to materialized.

Luckily Sephora Ph Online store went up and a new hope was born (yipee!).

3 Common Online Shopping Questions
I always get these questions whenever I show my online haul.

How do I pay - Credit Card, Paypal, Dragonpay. Dragonpay consists of over the counter payment via bank or remittance payment center and online/app bank payment. Weird though, BPI is not available maybe because of the recent incident? I'm not sure.

How many days before the goodies arrived - 5 to 7 days according to the website but I got mine within 5 days- I ordered Monday, got my stuff Friday.

Tax? - Nope. Aramex (courier) delivered my order to my friend's doorstep and voila! As long as someone can sign and receive the package there will be no problem.

Now that the questions are answered, here are the beautiful items that I got from Sephora Ph featuring Too Faced!
I always opted for a liquid base because of my dry skin but I just have to be brave - mustered my courage and put this on my bag. The selling point for me from the review section is that it can really hide the pores so what more can I ask for?

The Promise
Primes before makeup, then sets foundation after without changing skin tone. The innovative, mattifying powder provides a stunning, soft-focus effect for all skin tones even under brigth and unforgiving light light. The infusion of high-grade silica with vitamins A, C and mulberry extract brightens visually minimize pores, fine lines, and imperfections. It's like having a good lighting wherever you go!

I have another reco serum/essence/ampoule for those who are just diving into the korean skincare world and it's cheaper compared to the Innisfree The Green Tea Seed Serum. It's the Power 10 Formula CO Effector with Phyto Collagen from It's Skin.

But of course, this is just based on my opinion and personal experience. Products that works for me might not work for you.

This is a bit thicker and stickier than the Innisfree but the effect is almost the same. It's as moisturizing but a half step lower when it comes to nourishing but it makes it up to it by making my skin softer. And since this serum is thicker, I only need half of the pipette to cover my face and neck. And because it's cheaper (average $10), I sometimes layer it but not up to 7 times like what I do with the Hatomugi Skin Conditioner.

It's Skin Power 10 Formula CO Effector is best for those with dry skin but other skin type can still use it, just reduce the amount and you can also mix it up with other serums that are in the same line depending on your skin concern. As for me, I find it most effective when I use it alone.

Unfortunately, I can't explain the scent of this one but it definitely has fragrance to it but it's not that irritating and it's in a glass packaging which resembles vials. I'm looking at pictures online, and the Power 10 line looks good when they are lined together, makes me want to get the others (please no, stop self).

The Claim:
"High potency serum quenches skin; phyto collagen reverses and prevents the effects of premature aging; superbly hydrating to relieve dryness and avert dullness; creates a soft veil for long-lasting hydration and vibrancy; penetrates deeply for a healthy glow"

I was so clueless when I started with skincare. I thought that I should have an essence, a serum and an ampoule because I didn't know that the three are in the same category. I also thought that first essence and essence are the same thing but it turns out that I should use the former before toner and the latter after toner. There's a lot of trial and error, and a lot of money wasted and if I could go back in time, I should have also watch k-beauty youtube channels in addition to my blog readings.

Anyway, if I could recommend a serum for first timers for all skin type, I would suggest the Innisfree The Green Tea Seed Serum.
But of course, this is just based on my opinion and personal experience. Products that works for me might not work for you.

Serums are like supplements, using them can improve certain aspects of your skin in conjunction with other factors like a good skincare routine, healthy eating habits, enough sleep and exercise. Because it has smaller molecules, it can deliver the powerful ingredients deep into your skin. There are many different types depending on your need but if you are still unsure as to what will "amp" your skincare game, go for something that is moisturizing and nourishing and that's where Innisfree The Green Tea Seed Serum.

This will just be a quick review.

The Claim:
"Enriched with fresh green tea seeds and squeezed green tea from the pure Jeju island to deliver abundant moisture and nourishment deep into your skin."
There are a lot of serums that promises the same thing but it's only Innisfree's that I didn't experience purging or any other kind of adverse effect while using it even if I have sensitive skin. It is moisturizing and nourishing and goes well with whatever skincare product that I use. It is also watery so my skin absorbs it quickly but it still leaves a film of moisture on top of the skin which makes me skip moisturizer sometimes. I use full pump for my face and neck but if the weather is too hot and humid, I will only use half. It has a clean scent and if you have sensitive nose you can probably smell a hint of alcohol.

How do Koreans achieve that "Moist-Glowy" look without too much make-up. I'm very curious and almost asked someone while I'm in Korea on how to achieve it but well but I'm too shy to have a conversation. I tried a full blown Korean Skincare before but I still didn't achieved the look.

Anyway I'm still thinking that moisture is the key and so I got the Nature Republic Super Aqua Max Moisture Watery Cream which is the perfect variant for my dry skin.

This will be quick review.

The cream has a gel-like texture that seems to have just a light moisturization but noooooooope, it does pretty well in the moisturization department that I enjoy massaging this cream into my face so my skin can absorb it well. I did used this during the first quarter of the year when Manila is a bit chilly so I have no problem with how heavy it is but come summertime, I can only use it at night but surprisingly it doesn't have that oily residue which I tend to experience with super heavy creams.

The only thing that I hate about it is it's heavy floral-perfume scent, like up to now I'm still not used to it. Oh it's in a glass jar by the way in case you are wondering and it is affordable at around $10 to $15 which is not bad for a nice moisturizer.

From a non-believer to a constant user and now trying out the "7 Skin Method" trend, Toner or Skin as known in Korea or Lotion in Japan has been constant in my skincare routine.

In my younger years, I always thought that a toner is either very strong to the point of burning the skin or as bland as water packaged into a fancy bottle. As I got to skincare, I learned (and still learning) that a good toner (or Skin in Korea and Lotion in Japan) can restore the skin's pH balance quickly and prepare it in your next skincare step and provides extra moisture and nutrients thus helping in repairing the skin's protective barrier (and so much more depending on the ingredients of your toner).

So with all these benefit, why not slap the product in the face 7 times? CRAZY!!! But I tell you now, it works but it took some time before my system absorbed the idea.

The method is easy: pat (yes PAT and lightly massage if you have time) just the right amount of moisturizing toner (it must not have alcohol people) or a watery essence to your skin and before it dries out pat the 2nd batch of toner and repeat until you get to 7th.

According to Young-Ji Park, the founder of Purpletale, "By layering your toner multiple times, your skin gets to absorb more of the hydrating ingredients, ultimately giving you hydrated and healthy skin".

So I grabbed my gigantic Hatomugi Skin Conditioner (500 ml skin conditioner so why not excessively use it) which claims to have Coex Seed Extract that moisturizes the face and body for smooth and beautiful skin (I don't know anything about Coex Seed and I can't find anything about it on the net) and slap it on my skin 7 times and my face is dripping with toner so I have to watch a youtube video and read articles as to how others adhere to the method and found out that:

1. Amount matters - a dime size or 25 cents is enough for application
2. I need to lightly pat, tap and massage the face while applying toner and
3. It's okay to start at maybe 3 times and then gradually increase to 7 as the day goes by

So for the rest of the week, I improved in my application technique and so is my skin. I can't believe that it's more softer than when I just apply the skin conditioner once. On my second week, I became more constant with the 7 Skin Method - day and night and my skin got smoother and more supple.

I'm still continuing doing the trend but I transferred some of the Hatomugi Skin Conditioner to a spray bottle for an even application and I have to lower the number to 5 since it's so humid right now in Manila.

I still haven't achieved the glowy effect that some bloggers claim but at least I do not have much problem now in moisturizing my skin which proves that the Coex Seed Extract claim in the Hatomugi Skin Conditioner is for real.

Wanna try it too?Arya De Guzmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05654695815114527927noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4763521087920499402.post-44290393071709853532017-05-28T16:29:00.000+08:002017-06-22T09:45:42.798+08:00Zenutrients Besties

Ohhh I'm missing the cold weather months of MNL. Laying in bed full of pillows and covers and wearing boots and layered outfits is not overkill but I can't deny that my skin is greatly suffering from the cold and dryness of the wind and layering of moisturizing products is a must to save it from its cracking and itching state.

Here are my skin's besties last sweater weather season (I hope the coming rainy season will be nice and not brutal). There's a phase in my life that I go all organic in my skincare and Zenutrients has been a familiar brand (and still) to me. I'm happy that I'm supporting a local brand #supportlocal (and
I'll pretend that I'm sikat and have a disclaimer that youtubers often use - "this is not sponsored").

Zenutrients Slimming Massage Oil
Nope, I didn't get this for the slimming effect it claims but because of the lavender it contains cause I'm always having a hard time catching sleep.

This a light oil that my body loves to absorb after I take a bath. It's not sticky that I can use it during daytime perfect for my very dry skin. It also has a warming and soothing effect perfect companion for a quick self massage after exercise or before going to bed.

Zenutrients Rich Cocoa Body Butter

I always find cocoa body butter luxurious probably because of the sweet yet complicated smell, I love the Zenutrients Skin Defense Cocoa Butter because it's super moisturizing even if I just apply a small amount and wanted to try other cocoa based products from the brand.

This is the lighter version of the Skin Defense - consistency is a bit thicker than a lotion but not as balmy. Moisturization wise, I still root for the Skin Defense but I like that I can wear the body butter during daytime without sweating too much plus I don't have to spritz perfume since I already smell good when I use it.

Zenutrients Virgin Coconut Oil Balm

I initially wanted this to be the first in my double cleansing routine but it didn't turned milky when I mixed it with water but I still occasionally use it as a makeup remover specifically for eye makeup by applying it on a cotton pad and then swiping it all over my lids.

Since this is a balm, it's perfect for areas that are super dry since it won't easily budge. Knees, elbows and my scalp greatly benefit from this balm. This is also great for a DIY lip scrub - just mixed it with sugar and it will remove the dead skin while keeping your lips moisturize saving me from cracked lips.

Zenutrients is all over the place now so go visit a kiosk to know more about their products - I like their new packaging (mine are still the old version).

I'm posting it here because, well I'm unknown - no family members and friends who personally knows me read my blog. This is also the main reason why I can't blog properly - even if I wanted to, I just can't focus. It's hard to admit but I am depressed. No, not the kind no the lightly kind of depression most are saying as an expression but the mental sickness or that's what I think. I wanted
to consult a doctor but I can't find any who I can trust easily - I mean my family can't take me seriously and most of my friend just make fun of me when I say it. It's just alarming that I tick all the symptoms that I can find on the internet. I know I shouldn't rely on the internet but I have no one to talk to about what I'm experiencing without being judged and most people wanted a concrete explanation of what I'm feeling but unfortunately it's unexplainable.

Please if you know someone who suddenly feel distraught or have a sudden change of attitude and wanted to talk to you, listen to them without judging. Just listening earnestly helps and you might save his/her life.

Right now, the temporary solutions that I have is randomly writing, trying to be active by running and I'll probably enroll in a yoga class again, and sudden splurge which I'm trying to get rid in my system (it's costly) - I'll try to focus on the second option.
Ever since my eyes got blurry, eyeglasses has been my number one accessory. My first that doesn't look so nerdy is a Ray Ban looking glasses that I got from the department store (because my nerdy looking ones got broke and the shop where I got it said it will take them time to repair it) and have it prescripted. I got a lot of queer looks from it but knowing that most frames in optical shops (back then) are too small for my liking, I always scour the net for some trendy glasses. My latest by the way is from Divisoria and I got lots of compliment when I'm wearing it (even from an immigration officer from another country) but I always like to have options.

Fievre just keep on popping on my Facebook feed so I gave it a shot and got 3 frames.
I like the gold detail in Zed. It looks like your regular glasses but with a gold twist. This is for my niece by the way and I think she will have it tinted so she can use it as sunglasses. I tried it once and it's a bit tight or maybe my face is just too big for it but I regretted not ordering one for myself because it looks pricier than 350 pesos and it is sturdy too which is an issue for most cheap frames.
And when I say issue with sturdiness, Kristian is the perfect example. It looks great in photos but it is cheap looking in person so I got really disappointed. I should have gotten the leopard print and have it as a sunglasses but what can I do? I can't be always be lucky with glasses every time I order.
Ahhh Queenie is my FAVORITE! I initially wanted this to be my sunglasses but it's more perfect for everyday use. It looks nerdy at first but the almost cat-eye shape of it just compliments my slightly mataray image. It looks familiar (this kind of sunglasses where the bottom part is wire rimmed) and unfamiliar at the same time. I wanted to get the clear version and have it as my sunglasses!

Every order is in a sturdy black case with a cloth and the lenses are actually pretty good - antiradiation and they don't have scratches. Not bad!
I decided to go back to the "Creative World" of Make-up although this time, I'm more careful and choosy so there's nothing crazy with the above make-up pile.

I'm always a fan of a the Cat or Wing Liner so I definitely have to have the Maybelline HyperSharp Wing Liner in Black; which is raved by many enthusiasts (plus I got it on sale), to practice my eye lining game. In times that I wanted a more natural look, I'll use the Suesh Choose Your Own Palette Eyeshadow Pots in the shade E26 (mouthful but the name make sense) which is definitely a bang for the buck since it's under 100 pesos yet it has a decent amount (bigger than I expected) and I can even use it for contouring and shading. Suesh have lots of colors to choose from I almost got 3 more shades, good thing I remember that I'm trying to be minimal.

The This Will Be the Biggest Lipstick Trend of 2017 article in the Bloom magazine helped me find the perfect lipstick for me in the form of Wet N' Wild's Megaslicks Balm Stain in Rico Mauve - a "Ang ganda ng lips, pero di halatang nageffort" lippie that is perfect for everyday use.

Of course, I cannot skip the skincare department. I got curios about Skinlite Collagen Eye Zone Mask. It has a 5 star rating and a BeautyMnl 2016 Awards stamp but it's under 100 pesos for 30 patches??? A bit dubious and other Filipinas from the Beauty By You - the review section in the site have the same sentiment at first but they said it's unexpectedly great.

For double cleansing I decided to get the Biore Cleansing Oil to dissolve my makeup at the end of the day and the Tosowoong Enzyme Powder Wash which is an ultra-mild exfoliating wash and is said to be a dupe for the Tatcha Classic Rice Enzyme Powder (I want me some good dupe!)

Cosrx is making some noise lately and the AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner is the noisiest among Cosrx's products (and is always out of stock). A bit hesitant because of the actives but I read that there's just a small amount of AHA/BHA in the toner so I went ahead and purchase it (I also already got the Galactomyces Essence before and it's perfectly working with my skin).

Like I said in the intro, I'm a fan of BeautyMNL and every freaking time I order, my goods are delivered in less than 24 hours (I'm within Metro Manila by the way). I usually use the COD or Online Bank Transfer but the online shop also accepts Paypal and Credit Card. I'm only annoyed at the Free Shipping thing that keeps on popping eveeeeery time but aside from that I'm a satisfied online shopper and I keep on checking the site for new items and special promotions/discounts/sales (I'm waiting for Heimish) when I'm already bored and stressed at work (I know I'm not the only one who do this *wink).

Don't forget to check the in-house magazine Bloom for some tips and beautifying reads and the reviews section Beauty By You to know what other shoppers buy and how they liked the products.

Now go treat yourself and check BeautyMNL :P Happy Shopping guys!

I thought that finally, I'll be a makeup junkie when I started blogging and will finally be girly just the way others had hoped for me. But for me, putting piles of stuff on my face aside from skincare is totally bothersome. I still enjoyed the time spent playing with makeup and at the same time I can confidently say to other people that the "me" is not really girly and enjoys the simple routine of bb cream, some blush (sometimes highlighter) and a little something something on the lips that is not too loud in color. I'll definitely stick to the items that will work for me and not the other way around and I don't want to feel that I am only beautiful when I have makeup on.

And so here are some items that I tried, used a couple of time, sits in my drawer and are now expired (I think).

Sunkissed Shadows
These eyeshadows we're just given to me by my sister and they are awesome. They are crumbly but they are finely milled and the shimmers are just the right amount for an everyday look. It doesn't have a lot of fall out and the colors are just beautiful. I also used these as blush/contour/highlighter by lightly swirling a fluffy brush on the pots and into the apples of my cheeks going upward to my ears and the effect is light I just have a sunkissed skin. The bronzy color kinda have a nice tan effect while the browny pink has a nice flush effect.
Wet n Wild Coloricon in 336 Spoiled Brat
This was also just given to me for practiced. The colors are loud but with a light hand they can work on a daytime look. To be honest though, I never wore this in public and I only swatched the gray color on my hands and just didn't look okay with my yellowish skin.

I practiced eyelining my eyes with the black color and my blending skills (if I have one) with the pink. There's fall out to this one so priming before applying is necessary. Not much to say but I definitely enjoyed playing with these colors.

Missha Eyeshadows in Browny Pink
This I bought with my own money. I used the bottom part (brown) the most as it gives a definition to my eyes. I apply it at the outer corner of my eyes and also on my crease. I apply the middle one (pink) on the center of my lids for some color and highlight. I only use the top color (champagne) once and my sister was shocked because it's too shimmery and there's a lot of fall out plus the "shimmer" are uneven, if I put this on my body I can be like the vampires in Stephanie Myers novel.

Swatches look great though hehehe.

Tips from me:
"Try them in the counter"
My biggest mistake with makeup is that I bought all of them online and relied on the swatches on the internet. But the internet is a bitch, a color swatch nicely on someone's skin might not be the same with yours so go ahead and brave the beauty section of the malls and slightly have a thick skin trying different kinds of makeup when testers are available they are there for a reason :)

"Build your own kit that suits you"
There are a lot of tutorials and youtube videos out there that seem to lure you to buy this and that as part of your starter kit but take them as a guide, you do not need to have all of them at the same time else, you'll spend and waste a lot of money and that is coming from my own experience. If you are noob with makeup like me, start with an item that is not intimidating you perhaps a lipstick or a bb cream and use it a couple of times and when you are comfortable it then start another item that you think you can conquer (makeup is a scary thing for me which explains my wordings).

Better to build your starter kit slowly but surely and accept that makeup skill level vary from girl to girl.

"Make makeup work for you and not the other way around"
I believe that makeup is a fun way to express yourself so have fun but your makeup routine must suit your lifestyle and your day to day life.

Thanks if you made it this far and as always I hope this post helps you with your makeup journey.Arya De Guzmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05654695815114527927noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4763521087920499402.post-88330396581503923042016-08-03T10:17:00.000+08:002017-04-28T22:53:27.782+08:00Before They Go: Makeup I

From a crazy idea to a beauty staple, BB cushion conquered and found a steady spot in the beauty world. Lovers of liquid base makeup can now enjoy their favorite bb/cc cream or foundation in a compact form without the hassle of a bulky packaging, a mirror and a sponge or brush.

I don't touch-up so I do not necessarily need a cushion but I got curious so I got a refill to satisfy my curiosity and it did not disappoint though I have some minor issues with it.

So here's what's inside of the cushion (for those of you who is noob like me), it's a plastic container with a cover that contains a sponge soaked with; in my case, foundation (confusing, I know because of the name but a "BB Cushion" can contain bb/cc cream or foundation which I already mentioned above, sorry paulit ulit lang and if you are feeling adventurous you can actually DIY and customize the content of your very own bb cushion).

I got the IOPE XP Cushion C21 SPF50+/PA+++ because IOPE started it all! It has a light to medium coverage with a dewy finish which I very much like because it makes me look fresh and younger :) Plus I look artistahin when I wear this although that effect fades in just an hour or two so touch-up is really needed but I can't be bothered so I just let it fade since the fading anyway looks natural - not patchy and there's no creasing involved at all especially when using the specific sponge that should be use with the cushion.

And here's the sponge. It catches just the right amount and spreads my foundation evenly. It really fills the pores without looking flat. It's best to use this by tapping rather than smothering for a natural finish. I have an allergic reaction to this though (small bumps all over my face) because it is made out of latex so I either use my fingers or a brush to apply the IOPE XP Cushion. Not as evenly as the sponge but what can I do? unless there is some genius out there who can invent a sponge that will not irritate sensitive skin.

After I stop using the sponge, I didn't notice any more allergic reaction. Anyway the IOPE XP Cushion itself is really good, I hope I can have the foundation but in a tube container. The C21 (C by the way stands for coverage) is perfect for my skintone (which is a miracle) and the coverage and dewiness it gives is perfect for my everyday "no makeup" makeup look.

Some notes for cushion (in general):

Always clean your sponge (or have a backup) to stop spreading bacteria and prolong the life of your cushion

Use your cushion within 6 months for sanitary purpose (yup, cushion has a short life span but a lot actually have no problem finishing a compact in 3 months)

If it looks like the cushion is dried out, flip the sponge you'll be surprise at how much more foundation/bb cream is in there.

As I got more curious with makeup, I dig into some lipbalms and lipsticks. I only use lipbalms when my lips are super chapped to the point of bleeding although I noticed that the more I use lip balms the more my lips becomes dry except for a certain lipbalm that I got from The Body Shop and this Clio one which I got for free. I don't use it very often though because it's heavy as if most of the products just sits on top of my lips and the packaging is annoying. How annoying? Imagine someone with long nails scratching a chalkboard!

Surprisingly, I like lipsticks. They are annoying to me before because they feel heavy, stain everything aside from lips and I hate seeing other people with smudge lipstick and also (don't hate me) I hate that the ladies comfort room is always full because girls reapply their lipstick and lipgloss while chatting and when other girls notice how good the other girl's lipstick is wearing, the chat grows bigger and longer. Thankfully, there are lipsticks now that solves my dilemma though I haven't tried any of them.

Although I don't go for something bold, I'm surprised that I look good in the Ever Bilena Storm and Pink Flame. Both are my matte, very pigmented and from the tube, looks way too far from the color of my lips but on; with the right application and topping it with Revlon's Fig Jam, they look pretty and unintimidating. You can check my full post about these two here.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Fig Jam is also one of my favorite lipsticks because it helps makes the other lipsticks look better by adding some depth. On it's own, it just gives a "sheer-chocolate-melted-in-your-lips-with-a-bit-of-a-gloss" color that accentuate the natural color of the lips. It's also moisturizing without being to heavy. You can check my old post about it here. This is the first legit lipstick that I bought with my own money :)

Another favorite is the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in 001 Honey Douche. This is more pigmented than the Fig Jam but the shade is near to the natural color of my lips, perfect for everyday use and to a "no-make-up" look. Just this and the IOPE BB cushion makes people around me say I'm blooming without thinking that I'm wearing make-up. You can check my thoughts 001 Honey here.
There will be a part two of this Before They Go: Makeup "series" which covers some eyeshadows and blush. As always leave your comments down below for any tips to a beginner like me or just comment anything so that I know that someone out there is reading (seriously, a simple "hi" can make me smile).Arya De Guzmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05654695815114527927noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4763521087920499402.post-79798941077311414782016-07-30T12:57:00.001+08:002016-07-30T13:08:18.261+08:00Not the Same featuring Missha and Aloe Vera Gel

Missha Time Revolution Night Repair Science Activator Borabit Ampoule

THEN: I raved about this before here and it's one of the reason why I tried some more items from Missha. Here'a an excerpt from my review: "My face looks glowing, flawless and sleek. With continuous usage, my face looks healthy and less sensitive. My pores looks smaller and my freckles and sun spots are less visible. I never had a major breakout with this ampoule and my skin is soft yet firmer than before." Overall, I think it made my skin almost to the flawless artista level.

NOW: It just became a normal moisturizer in a liquid form. I read somewhere; although not official, that an active ingredient was replace with the "Borabit" edition as Missha had an issue with Estee Lauder because guys, in Korea this is being marketed as a cheaper version of the Estee Lauder Night Repair. I wish that I have gotten the former formula because I am missing the goodness it gave to my skin.
Missha Time Revolution The First Essence Treatment

THEN: At first I didn't like this SK-II dupe because it gave me mini break out but as I use it more, I noticed that my skin looks brighter and works well with the ampoule. Here's an excerpt again from my older post here: "While using this, I can say that my skin slowly GLOWS and brighten. It help in making it soft too. If you have extra time and money and wanted to take your skincare to the next level then consider getting a first treatment essence, it can make a difference although overall it's not necessary."

NOW: Because it's not giving me the extra glow anymore, I just use it as a toner. The version that I have now is the "Intensive" and I actually expected a little bit more because of that word. I see a lot of youtubers though raving about this and all of them do not have the "Intensive" word in their bottles.
Excessively used during summertime because of its lightness and also for its soothing and cooling effect.
I've been trying to minimized the stuff that I have to somehow de-clutter my space and my mind. So far not so good but I guess I'll start again by looking into my skincare and bodycare. Here are the items that will definitely say goodbye to me with mini reviews.

Let's start with these items that works but I have to let go of them because either they are already expired or because I don't need them anymore (I don't use make-up for the past few months): Purebeauty Cleansing Oil-In-Gel, Lacvert Pure Deep Cleansing Oil and Shiseido Perfect Whip Foam.

Purebeauty Cleansing Oil-In-Gel is a gel in texture kind of makeup remover that turns into a nearly oily state once applied to the skin. Being a gel, it's cooling and can give that relaxing feeling when massage into the skin. This is enough if you only wear light make-up but you'll definitely do a lot of massaging, tugging and pulling when it comes to heavy make-up like dark eyeshadows and eyeliner.

Lacvert Pure Deep Cleansing Oil is the first and only proper cleansing oil that I tried and it change the way I look at double cleansing. I only use foam cleanser before and I noticed that the cotton pads that I used when toning is always brown and I tell myself "Oh my toner is really good, it removes residue from my cleanser". But I got curious about double cleansing and cleansing oil so I tried one and glad I did because the brown thing in the cotton pads is actually bb cream. I haven't tried any other cleansing oil so I can't compare but this one from Lacvert is satisfying, I really wish that it's readily available here in the Philippines. It easily removes make-up, it's not oily to the skin as it melts into something milky when I incorporate water while massaging my face and it leaves my skin feeling moisturized.

Shiseido Perfect Whip Foam really creates a thick, rich, dense foam even if I only use a dot of it. It can cleanse without stripping the moisture of the skin, it's actually a great cleanser for any skin type.
I don't think I'm getting another one though in the near future since my face is acting weird for a couple of months now (probably because I'm getting old and because of my environment and diet???). By the way, this is super cheap in Japan (I had someone get this for me in Japan for I think less than Php200 ($4)).

I'm not too lucky with this second set though and I completely waste my money - they are either too strong or they just won't work.

Etude House Wonder Pore Modeling Ultra Clear
I had high hopes with this since I read a lot of praises with the toner from the same line. This powder to clay mask is cooling like a toothpaste but it gives my skin an itch every after use and I don't feel like it does something significant. I don't recommend this at all!

Pure Beauty Natural Sun Cream Daily
This is just too heavy and sticky and oily too. Whenever I use this, I feel like my face collected dirt by midday and it seems like my pores are clog by the end of the day. I also noticed that a yellowish liquid almost like an oil separates from the rest of the sunblock if I don't shake it well prior to use.

C20 (OST) Vitamin Sleep 9 to 5 Crema
The serum counterpart of this one is raved by many and this cream also have some great reviews because of it's brightening powers and apparently, also diminishes the appearance of spots and other discoloration and blackheads! So I got thrilled when I finally got my hands on it. Unfortunately it's too strong for me that my skin started peeling and I got bumps and itch all over my face. It hurts to use this so I stop.

IOPE Essential Line and Wrinkle Care Eye Cream
This worked the first few weeks that I used it, I can see some improvements with the lines under my eyes. Great I said to myself, finally a solution to my bad looking undereyes. But after a month, I noticed that I kept on scratching my eyes and overall my eye area became sensitive. I think this is just too strong for my skin.

3 Things to Remember in Skincare
1. "If it ain't broken, don't fix it"
Please keep this in mind! I have to learn the hard and expensive way don't make the same mistake pretty please.

2. "Know your skin"
Know your skin type, its sensitivity and its needs. Don't just slap products just because you feel like it or it's the newest trend or because your favorite blogger/youtuber recommended it. It's YOUR SKIN/FACE not theirs! Product reviews like mine are just opinions base on our experience that may or may not help you.

3. "Intensive Research"
Do a research or better, visit a professional. Also remember to do a patch test first (some give samples for you to try).

I have other products but I'm already running out of words. But I hope this post helps :)Arya De Guzmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05654695815114527927noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4763521087920499402.post-10705088946587389092016-07-03T14:39:00.001+08:002016-07-24T13:22:55.765+08:00My Heart is Crushed: LANEIGE

I've been in love with Laneige's Water Sleeping Pack_EX which is the BEST Sleeping Pack/Mask for me, I put it in a pedestal and is now my measurement for a good sleeping mask in case I try new ones (you can check my amazement with the product here).

And so when Laneige released a firming and then an updated version, I got excited! checked my wallet to see how much more should I make tipid to get them and voila! got them last year.

So are they good enough? Well my intro photo is a hint.

Laneige Firming Sleeping Pack
Already in my late 20's (it's inevitable, I'll be out of the calendar soon!) I just new that my skin needed some firming and all the anti-aging sheesh because they say, once you hit the land of 30s, lines, wrinkles and sagging will suddenly knock on your door and barge-in in your life with or without your permission. And so even though a lot of people couln't guess my real age (yes! baby face lang) a little help of firming from Laneige Firming Sleeping Pack is very much welcome.

I saw an ad about this product that the pudding like pack will restore its form after sometime no matter how many times you jiggle or break it. Sounds amazing but I thought "what will that do to firm my face, will the product particles once in my face will contact each other and say "Let's Bolt In? what a gimmick!".
And up to this day, I still think that it's a gimmick.

Although it's moisturizing than the Water Sleeping Pack, I did not see any firming effect- no tightening and my laugh lines are still prominent. I even tried increasing the application of this to "daily" but NOTHING happened, just good moisturization. Yes, moisturization is important to prevent lines and wrinkles but other products in the market also offers that and a whole lot more like suppleness and so I'm really disappointed with this firming pack.

Additional hate (and I'm sorry if I'm spreading hate but I just got to tell an honest review for the benefit of those who seek it) the pudding like texture is also hard to spread on the skin, you have to break it first in your palms else it will just be lumps in your face.

Again, disappointed with the Laneige Firming Sleeping Pack for not fulfilling the firming effect. Like the packaging though, it looks sleek and luxurious.

For all the technology behind this product you can check it here from Laneige's SG site.

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask
Is an updated version of my beloved Water Sleeping Pack_EX (or so I thought). Many people in the net complains that Pack_Ex is not moisturizing enough when they apply it and I also thought the same way before the first time that I used it.

Through time of using it though, I noticed that when I wake up my face is well moisturized. So it's a win-win situation for me: my skin doesn't feel sticky yet my face is still well moisturized plus my face looks bright as if I have a full 8 hours of sleep.

Now the Water Sleeping Mask is more moisturizing when applied. The benefits are still the same but for someone who is from a tropical country, I prefer the Water Sleeping Pack_EX better for the lightness feel. I really do hope that Laneige would just make the two available and market them as a separate product.

Quite a heavy post so thank you if you made it up to here but I hope that this post will help you decide whether to get these two products or not. I still have high hopes for Laneige as a brand and would like to try their essences and serum.Arya De Guzmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05654695815114527927noreply@blogger.com2
